Wonder Woman duo Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins reunite for Cleopatra movie

It's a mega-reunion for Wonder Woman duo Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins. As the actor-director duo awaits the release of Wonder Woman 1984, they have signed their next project which will be Cleopatra movie.

Deadline revealed that the period biographical drama was Gal Gadot's idea generated by Pilot Wave. It underwent a number of pitches before it landed with Paramount Pictures. Patty Jenkins will helm whereas Laeta Kalogridis will pen the script.

According to Deadline, "Cleopatra is the daughter of Ptolemy, ancestor of the leader of Alexander the Great’s army. When Rome’s ruler Julius Caesar’s mentor-turned-rival Pompey fled to Egypt after a brutal war for control of the empire, Egypt became a fixation of Roman rulers. Two siblings battled for the throne of Egypt. After winning that internal struggle by appealing personally to Caesar, Cleopatra had a complicated relationship with Rome, becoming the lover of Caesar and later Marc Antony. The latter alliance would become the undoing of both Antony and Cleopatra."

Meanwhile, Wonder Woman 1984 is set for December release. Gal Gadot will next star in the Kenneth Branagh directed Death on the Nile.

Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock may reunite for Paramount Pictures' Lost City Of D

It seems like The Proposal duo Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock may be reuniting on the big screen again. According to the latest reports, Paramount Pictures is working on its next project Lost City Of D with up and coming directors, Adam & Aaron Nee.

According to Deadline, for the romantic action-comedy, "the studio hopes will re-team Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. Neither has a deal and the latter’s availability is questionable because the studio is looking to move quickly."

Seth Gordon pitched the idea and Oren Uziel penned the first draft. The latest draft has been written by Dana Fox. Deadline further reveals, "Gordon is attached to produce via his Exhibit A Films. Bullock is producing through her Fortis Films along with Liza Chasin via her company 3dot Productions."

If everything falls into place, this will be the first time Bullock and Reynolds will work together since the 2009 movie, The Proposal.

Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case: Maharashtra’s Health Minister ensures full cooperation with CBI

Last week when the Supreme Court transferred Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case to the Central Bureau of Investigation, a team of officials landed in Mumbai. They have already started investigating the case from scratch and began the procedure by recreating the scene in Sushant Singh Rajput’s apartment in Bandra where he was found. They have also been seeking help from a team of four doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Rajesh Tope, Maharashtra’s Health Minister, was recently speaking to reporters in Pune and confirmed that they are cooperating with the CBI officials. Maharashtra Government was initially in charge of the case and since the Supreme Court’s order, they have ensured that there are no hurdles from their end. Rajesh Tope further clarified that the case is now sub-judice so there will be no interference of any politicians.

He concluded by saying that it’s their tradition to respect the law.

Shraddha Kapoor not approached for Aadai remake, confirms producer Vishal Rana

Producer Vishal Rana's production house Echelon Production had acquired the rights of the Tamil film Aadai, which featured Amala Paul in the lead role last year. Recently, there have been reports doing the rounds that actress Shraddha Kapoor has been approached for the lead role in the Hindi remake of Aadai. However, producer Vishal Rana has confirmed that the reports related to casting are false.

"Our company Echelon Productions holds the official remake rights of Aadai. It's one of the most successful movies of last year in Tamil language. We are however yet to lock the cast for the Hindi remake. We'll be making the official announcement for it soon," producer Vishal Rana said in an official statement.

Aadai is a Tamil thriller that hit the screens on July 19, 2019 and received positive response from the audience as well as the critics. Amala Paul's character of a bold and free-spirited girl was one of the highlights of the film.

Fortunately, I got myself retested the same day and it came negative. Just to be sure, later again, I got my entire family also tested and everything came negative so am really happy about that."

Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case: A team of four doctors from AIIMS will examine the autopsy reports

Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation by the Supreme Court and his family has been rooting for it. Last week, when the Central Bureau of Investigation took over the case, they have been investigating from scratch. As per the reports, the officers in charge of the investigation had planned on recreating the crime scene to get a better idea and take things ahead from there.

Now, if the new reports are to be believed then the CBI is seeking help from medical experts at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). A team of four doctors led by Dr. Sudhir Gupta, Head of Forensic Medicines, will examine the autopsy and viscera reports. The Central Bureau of Investigation will hand over the required reports in a couple of days to the doctors who will then undergo the matter in detail.

Dr. Sudhir Gupta spoke to a news portal and said that their primary motive will be to examine the murder angle and the overall possible manner of death.

EXCLUSIVE: Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi and Ranveer Singh’s 83 may release on OTT, says Reliance CEO Shibashish Sarkar

As one by one all the pending films, big or small, are succumbing to the digital temptation we have from informed sources that Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi and Kabir Khan’s 83, both produced by Reliance Entertainment, may also release on OTT platform.

Speaking exclusively to the writer Reliance Entertainment CEO, Shibasish Sarkar, says, “We are 100% inclined to take theatrical route. However, at the same time, we don't want to delay the release further than practically possible. That means we will not like to push release dates beyond Diwali / Christmas. So the first option is to go theatrical if cinemas open up and audiences are back.”

However now for the first time since the lockdown Sarkar admits that Reliance Entertainment is looking at the possibility of releasing Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi and Kabir Khan’s 83 on the digital platform. “If either cinema halls don't open or corona impact increases many folds....and audiences are not coming... Or in some states theatres open and in some states they won't....in those scenarios we will have to explore all options… Either pure SVOD (video on demand) routes. Or TVOD/PPV (pay per view) routes like what the makers of Mulan are planning. Or part theatrical/part TVOD. Or in some state/countries theatrical and some state digital... Basically we will not like to shift release date further.... and ideally look for theatrical or any other hybrid measure for the best possible release. (sic.)”

SCOOP: Kartik Aaryan’s Allu Arjun starrer Ala Vaikunthapurramloo remake on floors in Feb 2021; Ekta Kapoor to produce it

Kartik Aaryan has to be one of the busiest man’s in B-Town. He has his kitty is already filled with sequels to hit films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Dostana 2, Om Raut's next and also Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety 2. Bollywood Hungama has exclusively learnt that the actor has green-lit another film, the official remake of Allu Arjun’s mega-blockbuster, Ala Vaikunthapurramloo, which will be directed by Rohit Dhawan. While earlier, we have reported that the sequel will be produced by Ashvin Varde, we have now learnt that the producer no longer holds the remake rights and the yet-untitled commercial potboiler will be produced by Ekta Kapoor with South producer Allu Aravind, who also produced the original.

“The script has shaped up brilliantly and the entire team is charged up to take a step forward towards the pre-production process. While Kartik Aaryan will step into Allu Arjun’s shoes, the hunt is on for the female lead as also the ensemble. The film is essentially a family entertainer, and the idea is to have acclaimed actors from the industry step in for all key roles,” revealed a source close to the development.

While Kartik Aaryan is expected to complete his already pending assignments by early next year, the Ala Vaikunthapurramloo remake is poised to go on the floors around February 2021.

“The industry is optimistic that the on-ground scenario will be back to normal by year end, and the industry will start functioning like before. If everything goes as planned, the film will target a release in the second half of 2021. But it’s all just a conversation now, and all depends on how COVID-pandemic takes shape in months to follow,” the source informed, adding further that it would be the biggest Kartik Aaryan film in terms of budget. “The original film is a blockbuster and the makers are expecting it to recreate the magic in Hindi belts too. Given the action, the film requires certain mounting, and the makers will go all out in doing so.”

This would be Kartik Aaryan's first association with both Rohit Dhawan and Ekta Kapoor, and he is all charged to resume work by year-end.

There's been an outpouring of messages from industry members and fans all across for the Bachchan family. While Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan have been admitted to Nanavati hospital, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Aaradhya Bachchan are in-home quarantine.

Their staff members have also given the swab tests and waiting for their results. A civic official revealed that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared Bachchan family's four bungalows - Jalsa, Pratiksha, Janak, and Vatsa - as containment zones and sealed them.

The security has been beefed up both at their bungalows and at Nanavati hospital.

Sushant Singh Rajput's post mortem report states asphyxia due to hanging as cause of death

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput, known for his roles in Kai Po Che, MS Dhoni - The Untold Story and Chhichore, passed away on June 14 at his Bandra residence in Mumbai. The actor was only 34 years old and died of suicide. His death has sent shockwaves across the nation. After the post mortem, the cause of death has been revealed.

Abhishek Trimukhe, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) has told ANI news, “Provisional postmortem report has been submitted by doctors at Bandra Police Station. Team of 3 doctors have conducted the autopsy of #SushanthSinghRajput. The provisional cause of death is asphyxia due to hanging.”

As per reports, his funeral will take place today in Mumbai. His family arrived in Mumbai on Sunday night from Patna.

Sushant Singh Rajput was last seen in Chhichore and Drive. His next film Dil Bechara was scheduled to release on a digital platform.

Yesterday, the untimely demise of Sushant Singh Rajput came as a shock to all of us. The 34-year-old actor died by suicide and was said to be suffering from depression for the past six months. The news still hasn’t sunk in for the fans and his industry colleagues while his family grieves the loss. However, while the industry was grieving, a few pictures of Sushant post demise leaked and it led to a huge outrage on social media.

The pictures breached the WHO policies and act as trigger points for those battling suicidal thoughts and depression. Maharashtra Cyber Cell put out a warning against those sharing the pictures and has said that it could invite legal action if not deleted. Taking to their official Twitter account, Maharashtra Cyber posted, “A disturbing trend has been observed on Social Media platforms by Maharashtra Cyber that pictures of deceased actor Shri. Sushant Singh Rajput are being circulated, which are disturbing and in bad taste.”

After Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Deepika Padukone emphasizes on need to seek help for mental health

In one of the biggest tragedies this industry has faced, one of the finest actors of the Hindi film industry, Sushant Singh Rajput, passed away on June 14, Sunday at his Bandra residence in Mumbai. The actor was only 34 years old and died of suicide. He was known for his roles in Pavitra Rishta, Kai Po Che, M.S Dhoni – The Untold Story amongst others.

With tributes pouring in for the actor, conversations are being amplified about the need to seek help for mental health. Giving her own example, Deepika Padukone said that it is important to reach out when one is not feeling well. “As a person who has had a lived experience with mental illness, I cannot stress enough about the importance of reaching out. Talk.Communicate.Express.Seek help. Remember, You are not alone. We are in this together. And most importantly, there is Hope,” she wrote in a post.

Deepika further requested to appropriately report about suicide. “My dear friends in media. Criminals commit a “crime”. People don’t commit suicide. They ‘die by suicide’. Their actions arise out of deep anguish.  Thank you.”

From Akshay Kumar’s Laxmmi Bomb to Ajay Devgn’s Bhuj, 10 movies to directly release on Disney + Hotstar?

As the nationwide lockdown that commenced in March earlier this year, many films were postponed due to the shutdown of theatres. The coronavirus pandemic has brought the showbiz to a standstill. Even as the restrictions are slowly being lifted, it’s uncertain when the theatres will reopen and whether the audience will head to the cinema halls. Producers are opting for direct-to-OTT options in order to not suffer more losses.

It was already rumoured that after several movies like Gulabo Sitabo and Shakuntala Devi took the OTT route, many projects will be making it to the digital platforms. Now, as per recent development, sources reveal that Disney + Hotstar will premiere ten films on their platform including two of the highly awaited movies – Akshay Kumar’s Laxmmi Bomb and Ajay Devgn starrer Bhuj: The Pride Of India.

Here are all the movies releasing on the OTT:

LAXMMI BOMB:

The film stars Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani in the leading roles. The upcoming horror thriller is written and directed by Raghava Lawrence as this film marks his Hindi directorial debut. Akshay plays the role of a transgender. It is a remake of the Tamil movie Muni 2: Kanchana.

BHUJ: THE PRIDE OF INDIA:

Ajay Devgn stars as IAF Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik. The story is set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, where Karbnik was then in-charge of the Bhuj airport who and his team reconstructed the IAF airbase with the help of 300 local women. Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Nora Fatehi, Sharad Kelkar, Ammy Virk and Pranitha Subhash are starring in key roles. It is being co-produced, written and directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya.

SADAK 2:

The film marks the return of Mahesh Bhatt as a director after his 1991 film, Sadak. The sequel will bring back the original actors Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt along with new pair Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur. This is also the first time Alia is working with her father since her launch in Student Of The Year.

DIL BECHARA:

The much delayed film starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi finally will get release. It was earlier named Kizie and Manny. The film is remake of Hollywood romance drama The Fault In Our Stars. The film marks the directorial debut of casting director, Mukesh Chhabra.

The much awaited Abhishek Bachchan starrer, that was set for theatrical release on 23rd October, 2020, is also heading to OTT. It is the story of a man who sold dreams to India. The film will also star Ileana D'Cruz, Nikita Dutta and Soham Shah.  It is produced by Ajay Devgn and Anand Pandit, directed by Kookie Gulati and co-produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Vikrant Sharma.

Kriti Sanon takes on the lead and will play a surrogate mother in the film. Produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films in association with Jio Studios, Mimi is based on Marathi film Mala Aai Vhaaychay which won the National Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi in 2011. The film, directed by Laxman Utekar, also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Sai Tamhankar.

BLACKPINK to release new song on June 26 ahead of their comeback album

It is the season of comebacks in the music industry! K-pop girl group Blackpink is set to make their comeback after a year. The members - Jisoo, Rose, Jennie, and Lisa - were last seen in their smash hit single 'Kill This Love' and the recent collaboration 'Sour Candy' in Lady Gaga's studio album 'Chromatica'. While the album still seems to be a while away, the fans (BLINKS) can get excited as the group will drop a pre-release single on June 26, 2020.

On June 10, YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK's agency, unveiled the teaser poster of the upcoming single. "#BLACKPINK COMEBACK TEASER POSTER. Pre-Release Single - 2020.06.26 6PM," the tweet read. Ben Stiller's father Jerry Stiller passes away, Hollywood pays tribute to the late comedian

Actor Ben Stiller's father, famed comedian and actor Jerry Stiller, passed away at the age of 92. The news of his passing was confirmed by Ben on his Twitter on Monday, May 11.

“I’m sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, passed away from natural causes. He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you Dad,” Ben Stiller shared on his Twitter.

Jerry Stiller was a well-known comedian. He also played the role of Frank Costanza on Seinfeld, Jason Alexander's father. He went onto star as Arthur Spooner on the King of Queens.

Hollywood celebrities like Jason Alexander, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ricky Gervais, Hank Azaria, Kevin James, Peter Gallagher, Seth Rogen amongst others paid tribute to the late comedian.
